The City Clerk works for the City Council and is responsible for:
- Maintaining official Minutes of all Council proceedings
- Preparing Agendas for Council meetings
In addition, the City Clerk's office:
- Administers Oath of Office for public officials
- Certifies official documents
- Files official notices for advertisement
- Is the custodian of the official City Seal and the Code of Ordinances
- Is the legal custodian of the City's permanent records including resolutions and contracts
- Prepares documents for candidate filing for city elections
- Receives referendum, recall, and initiative petitions from citizens
- Supervises the disposal of non-permanent records
- Supervises the retention of permanent records
- Recording and filing of official city records
- Notarizes documents
