The City of St. Charles City Council passed ordinance, Ord 23-062 on June 6, 2023, which requires that sellers provide and execute a disclosure for all residential real estate transactions within the City of St. Charles. Per the ordinance, the effective date of this new City Law is September 1, 2023, meaning all transactions for residential real estate within the City of St. Charles after this date shall include this disclosure. A copy is to be provided to the City after it has been notarized at closing. The disclosure does not need to be recorded. The process is a way to provide formal notice to incoming residents of certain rules/requirements/ordinances of the City of St. Charles, such as:
- Building Permits
- Sign Permits
- Inspections
- RV/Boat Parking and Storage
- Property Maintenance
- Solid Waste Collection and Disposal
- Short Term Rentals
- Historic Preservation Districts and Requirements
- Floodplain Development
- Fencing
- Site Plan and Architectural Review
- Zoning Classification and Restrictions
