Steps For A Recommendation From the Prosecuting Attorney
Mail your entry of appearance to:
City of St. Charles Municipal Court
1781 Zumbehl Road
St. Charles, MO 63303
Make sure the defendant’s name, court date, ticket number, and/or what the defendant is charged with is indicated on the entry. Enclosed the following:
A copy of the ticket (if available) or what the defendant is charged with
A request for recommendation
A self-addressed stamped envelope (if this is not enclosed, a recommendation will not be provided)
Proof of compliance on any compliance tickets:
Driving while suspended / revoked
No proof of Insurance
Failure to register
No Operator license, etc. (if available at time of filing your request). If you need additional time to obtain your documentation, please request a continuance on your memo to allow you time to gather what is required. Proof of compliance must be filed on any required ticket before the Prosecuting Attorney will provide a recommendation.
Once the court has received all of the proper documents, the prosecutor will review your request and provide a recommendation. Once a recommendation is issued, the court clerks will not grant continuances for payment.
The Prosecuting Attorney will give recommendations on drug and alcohol related offenses through the mail. However, in most cases, both the attorney and defendant will need to appear for the final disposition. Furthermore, if the prosecutor recommends probation, please explain to your client the importance of complying with all conditions of the probation and possible consequences should they fail to adhere to the probation order.
